With the beginning of school, I have prepared some Guided Math Fifth Grade Place Value Activities for some Guided Math groups.
Use these activities in small guided groups to help students understand the different place value math state standards.
Activity #1 Guided Math Fifth Grade Place Value Activities called
Rounding to the hundredths
This activity has 5th and 6th grade students roll three dice. They create a decimal from that. (a three digit decimal) They then round that decimal and place a marker on the game board. When students play with a partner, one partner rolls the dice, creates the decimal and rounds it to the nearest hundredth. That student puts their marker on the board if it isn’t covered already. This is a great activity for students to apply knowledge of rounding that they learned in small group lessons with the teacher. I would put this into a guided math station.
Go to the URL below the picture to download the free game boards. This site also has game boards for rounding to the tenths and thousandths also.
