Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activities

Here are some Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activities for my Kindergarten teacher friends!

These hands on activities are used to teach Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activities so students can manipulate math to understand number sense.

#1 Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activities

The teacher showed each guided group how to write a number. You may want to use dry erase boards or use laminated number cards.  Then students put the dominoes that equals that card.  I love how this activity can then be put into a guided math station for students to continue practicing.

#2 Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activities

Show students how to use number punches.  This activity shows students how to represent the value of the number.  I like how the students will use their motor skills to punch the holes.

#3 Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activity

This activity is a freebie!  The students can manipulate the play dough to represent the number with dough balls on the tree and on the ten frame.  This is a good visual and hands on activity for Kindergarteners to develop number sense.

#4 Guided Math Kindergarten Place Value Activity

I love this activity.  This teacher created these colored sticks with magnetic strips on them.  I love how the students can see the number at the bottom of the stick and then place the paper clips on the stick to model the number.  Great idea for a guided math small group math lesson on place value and number sense.  Students can then practice this in a math center.  If your first graders have ipads, they can take a picture like this one when they are done to show they completed the activity.

I have shown you some great hands on activities for Kindergarten that promote complete understanding of number sense.  Please show these math games to your students in guided math groups first and then put them in a guided math station for ongoing skill development.
